The Sun Fire V100 has Solaris pre-installed, and includes free licenses for iPlanet Web Server, Enterprise Edition and Sun ChiliSoft ASP.
This server utilises standard PC memory, IDE disk drives, CD-ROM, system configuration card(s) and Light Out Management (LOM).
The entry level UltraSPARC IIe 500MHz CPU model, has now been discontinued and is now replaced by the more powerful UltraSPARC IIi 550MHz and 650Mhz processors. The newer entry level model is available with 256Mb of RAM, dual 10/100 BaseT Ethernet and a 40GB IDE disk drive (a maximum of two disk drives can be installed).
The Sun Fire V100 is available in a Floor Tile Ready (FTR) configuration. This means that the integration of software, servers and storage arrays have been designed to simplify the deployment process into IT infrastructures.
The Sun Fire V100 is similar to the Sun X1 server, but is capable of supporting an internal CD-ROM drive.
