The Sun Fire E4900 server is a high-performance, highly available midrange data center server most suited for mission-critical data center environments.
The Sun Fire E4900 can have up to a maximum of twelve UltraSPARC IV processors with chip multithreading technology executing 24 simultaneous computing threads. High availability is achieved with full hardware redundancy, fault-isolated dynamic system domains, and dynamic reconfiguration for hot swapping key server components while applications are up and running.
With the benefit of the uniboards, it is possible to mix and match UltraSPARC III processors with UltraSPARC IV processors in the same system and/or domain.
