At the heart of the HPC 6500 is the Gigaplane, a 2.6-GB/sec system interconnect with extremely high bandwidth and low sustained latencies. Connected to the Gigaplane are up to 30 high-speed UltraSPARC processors, 30 GB of memory, and 30 200-MB/sec I/O channels. Combine that with the multiprocessing efficiency of the Solaris operating environment, and the HPC 6500 will support your most demanding applications.

The most comprehensive set of reliability features

To provide extremely high levels of uptime, the HPC 6500 incorporates the most comprehensive set of reliability features available today in a network server. It comes with Solstice SyMON, an integrated system monitor that can predict many common failures before they occur. If you choose, SunServiceSM will respond to any "prefailure" warning by automatically dispatching service personnel to repair the system before there is a problem.
The system also has built-in redundancy, so it can tolerate power supply, cooling, or storage failures without affecting system operation and can automatically recover from most other failures, such as CPU faults, with minimal disruption.

Each HPC system includes selected software tools that perform workload and resource management, and support the development and execution of high-performance, parallel applications.
