The rp7420 is based on the sx1000 Chipset and now has the PCI-X I/O capabilities. The rp7420 can ordered with 2 to 16 PA-8800 processors of 900Mhz, or 1Ghz. Memory capacity is 2GB to 128GB.
The Cell board for rp8420 and rp7420 hold eight CPUs. Like the older A6094A Cell board, there are 16 Memory DIMMs slots and DC-DC power converters located on the Cell board as well. Processors are sold as a "dual pack".
